Isabelle Négrier held talks at the UK Embassy in Paris with the new Minister of State for Europe, Stephen Doughty, and the UK Ambassador, Menna Rawlings. On August 9, Mr. Doughty MP invited EuropaNova's Managing Director to discuss the new chapter in UK-European relations.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present the Conclave report from March 2024: Europe 2040: Tomorrow is Today.
The dialogue focused mainly on democracy and the economy. The rise of nationalism in Europe and the UK was also discussed: "Against populist we have to be popular." said Isabelle Négrier.
EuropaNova has proposed a way forward for future European relations within the Union and beyond: " the creation of a European mixed economy, combining public and private resources (European private companies, European public companies, European research and development agencies). We can encourage the creation of economic clusters, by pooling European resources. It's essential to modernize and overcome the divide between the public and private sectors, and to capitalize on their singularities in order to make a difference on a continental scale. "
